Content Creator / Host / Guest Host
Huskies Central covers University of Washington athletics with original news, analysis, opinion, and video. We’re growing our team with versatile Content Creators and on-air Hosts who can inform, entertain, and engage a passionate Huskies audience.
What you’ll do
- Pitch, research, and produce articles, videos, and short-form content focused on UW Huskies athletics.
- Write, edit, and publish multiple pieces per week in WordPress.
- Develop compelling headlines, thumbnails, and social copy to drive clicks and conversation.
- Create SEO-optimized content, including explainers, features, opinion columns, stat breakdowns, and infographics.
- Collaborate on paid ad copy and promotional assets for core channels.
- Track performance and iterate using basic analytics and best practices.
- Stay current on team news, trends, recruiting, and NCAA storylines; propose fresh angles and series.
What makes you a great fit (preferred)
- ~1 year of digital content editing or sports media experience.
- Sharp writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a distinct voice.
- Experience optimizing content for SEO and audience growth.
- Working knowledge of WordPress and basic Google Analytics.
- Familiarity with SEO tools (e.g., Keywords Everywhere, SEMrush, BuzzSumo).
- Strong time management, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in or interest in journalism, communications, or related field — or equivalent experience/fandom expertise.
