Washington continued its momentum on the recruiting trail this week by securing a significant commitment from Dominic Macon, a three-star defensive lineman from Oregon. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 305 pounds, Macon chose the Huskies over offers from Boise State, Oregon State, and several others.
Macon, who attends Adrienne C. Nelson High School in Happy Valley, Oregon, is the second Pacific Northwest recruit to join the University of Washington’s 2025 class. He received an offer from UW on June 14 during the Top Dawg Camp, shortly before three-star lineman Victor Sanchez Hernandez became the first commit from the past weekend.
Notably, Macon is the first interior defensive lineman from Oregon to commit to UW since Marlon Tuipulotu in the 2017 class. Tuipulotu eventually signed with USC, a scenario that Washington coaches Jedd Fisch and Jason Kaufusi hope to avoid with Macon. His commitment brings the Huskies’ total to 14 recruits for the 2025 class, including five defensive players.
Macon’s pledge follows a busy official visit weekend, adding to the commitments of four-star linebacker Jonathan Epperson Jr., three-star safety Donovan Robinson, three-star cornerback D’Aryhian Clemons, and Hernandez. This gives defensive coordinator Steve Belichick a strong foundation to build upon as the summer recruiting season progresses.
Ranked as the No. 8 player in Oregon and the No. 108 defensive lineman nationally by 247Sports, Macon showcased his skills at the Under Armour Next Camp in Seattle in April. Greg Biggins, a national recruiting analyst, praised Macon’s quickness, length, and power, noting his impressive 80-inch wingspan and his success as a state champion wrestler.
As Washington anticipates losing two defensive linemen—sixth-year defensive tackle Jacob Bandes and former Montana State transfer Sebastian Valdez—after the 2024 season, Macon’s addition is timely. The Huskies’ current defensive line roster includes junior college transfer Bryce Butler, Jayvon Parker, Logan Sagapolu, sophomore Armon Parker, redshirt freshman Elinneus Davis, and true freshman Omar Khan, all of whom will be key players in the upcoming season.
With Macon’s commitment, the Huskies continue to build a formidable defensive lineup, poised to compete at a high level in the seasons to come.
