Tyler Prasuhn Commits to UW, Following Father’s Legacy

Thirty years after his father kicked a field goal and two extra points against the University of Washington, Tyler Prasuhn is set to join the Huskies, bringing his impressive kicking skills to Montlake.

Tyler, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound place-kicker from Carlsbad, California, announced his commitment to UW on social media. He becomes the 23rd recruit for Jedd Fisch’s 2025 class. Tyler attends Carlsbad High School, the alma mater of former UW safety Asa Turner.

In his junior season, Tyler played a crucial role in Carlsbad High School’s 10-1 record. He successfully converted 4 of 6 field goals, 55 of 56 extra points, and achieved 60 touchbacks out of 71 kickoffs. Additionally, he punted 13 times, averaging 40 yards per punt.

In 1995, Tyler’s father was the primary kicker for the University of Arizona, finishing the season with a 5-6 record. He connected on 9 of 14 field-goal attempts and 22 of 25 extra points, playing alongside two-time All-America linebacker and future NFL player Tedy Bruschi.

Before committing to UW, Tyler received offers from San Diego State and Army. At Washington, he will have the opportunity to learn from current primary kicker Grady Gross, who has two more seasons of eligibility remaining.

Tyler’s decision was influenced by his strong relationship with special teams coordinator Jordan Paopao and the coaching staff, including Bailey McElwain and Jedd Fisch
