Day 6 Summary

The team’s sixth practice session was a rigorous two and a half hours of intense training, featuring more scrimmage plays than any previous session, as the team’s coordination began to sharpen noticeably.

Rogers, a former protégé of coach Mike Leach, executed plays with remarkable precision. One of his standout moments was a perfectly executed flea-flicker, connecting with Giles Jackson for a significant gain. Although Denzel Boston remained his go-to receiver, Rogers effectively distributed the ball among his other wide receivers. A particularly memorable play was a 47-yard touchdown pass to Jackson, threading the ball between two defenders. Another highlight came when Rogers launched a deep pass to Jeremiah Hunter, who made a stunning diving catch.

Rogers also demonstrated his creativity and quick thinking on the field. Near the goal line, he pulled off a last-second jump pass over a defender to tight end Keleki Latu for a touchdown, sparking a rush of celebration from his teammates and coaches. He capped off the practice with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jackson, igniting another wave of enthusiastic cheers.

The defense also had its share of standout moments during the practice. Jordan Shaw made an impressive interception off a pass from Demond Williams Jr., returning it 95 yards for a touchdown to the delight of his teammates. Safety Peyton Waters made his presence known with an interception and a powerful tackle that underscored his defensive prowess. On special teams, defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez made an impact by blocking a field goal attempt.

Despite the intensity and occasional high emotions, the practice ended on a positive note, with the team in high spirits. Rogers, in particular, appeared especially at ease after the spirited session.
